THE SHIPWRECKS OF ANATOLIA
Saturday, March 03, 2007 08:07

SOA's Mission

The mission of Shipwrecks of Anatolia is to make Turkey's unique and spectacular underwater archaeological heritage easily accessible to everyone, we are doing this by building a multi-media database of all underwater archaeological sites around Anatolia, as well as providing regular on-line updates of our research, including images, videos, and live web-cam transmissions. Our long term goal is to extend the shipwreck database to include information about ancient harbors, underwater structures, and isolated finds. By increasing public interest and involvement in the process of archaeological research, we also hope to raise social and political awareness about the conservation of underwater sites.
